List of geostationary satellites |
Afristar (also known as Afristar 1 ) is a former broadcast satellite of the operator Worldspace , which mainly served Africa, but also Europe and the Middle East.
After the operator went bankrupt, the satellite was sold to Yazmi USA , which, like Worldspace, is managed by Noah Samara.
In June 2013 there were still 2 radio stations to be received in Europe: World Radio Network WRN1 (English), WRN2 (German / French).
In December 2016, there was no longer any radio program to be received via Afristar in Europe. However, in addition to the Omnisat data service, which can still be received, two other data channels have now been activated: Yazmidat and Yazmifile, which transmit educational content to appropriately equipped tablet computers in Africa.
