Afuá

Afuá is a municipality ( Munizip ) in the north of the island of Marajó , in the Brazilian state of Pará . The community has 35,042 inhabitants (2010) on an area of ​​8,338,438 km². Most of the houses in Afuá are pile dwellings connected by bridges and footbridges. This also earned the city the nickname Venice of Marajó .
