Aganippe (daughter of Aegyptus)
Aganippe ( ancient Greek Ἀγανίππη ) is a daughter of the Egyptian king Aigyptos in Greek mythology .
When Egypt is ravaged by a drought, Aigyptus turns to the Oracle of Delphi , where he is advised to sacrifice his daughter. After the sacrifice of Aganippes, he is so sad that he throws himself into the Melas ( Nile ) river . The river was then named Aigyptus
The myth about Aganippe is only attested once in Pseudo-Plutarch .
