Agent Alice is a hidden object game that was released on February 26, 2015 by game developer Wooga for the Android and iOS operating systems . After Pearl's Peril, it is the second hidden object game from the Berlin studio.

action

In terms of content and appearance, the story is set in the 1960s. Private investigator Alice has to solve a murder case in the theater. She is ambitious, successful and good-looking. At her side is her reliable and down-to-earth assistant Ben, a veteran from the Korean War . The story develops a romantic side through the charming thief Pete, with whom Alice enters into a love affair. In addition to the criminal case, mystery elements also play a role in the further course , supernatural forces seem to be at work. Action scenes alternate with rather calm investigation scenes.

The story was created by the freelancers Simone Veenstra and Philipp Zimmermann, who linked the usual ways of seeing from the series and film conception with game-specific requirements, both dramatically and structurally. The individual episodes of Agent Alice are completed, but a longer storyline has been woven horizontally into the episodes. This is the puzzle about Alice's missing parents, which was divided into 13 episodes per season and features cliffhangers at the end of each season.

Gameplay

At the beginning of the game there is a hidden object. At the top of the display there is a list of objects that can be found in this picture. When an item is found, touching the display adds the item to the list of found items. To end the scene, all objects must be found. The faster the speed of finding, the higher the scores that can be achieved. A maximum of 8 stars can be earned in each scene, the level of difficulty increases. The stars earned mean that more clues can be found in a scene and larger parts of the story are revealed. Each episode contains a mixture of hidden object and puzzles. So z. B. Letters and cards are assembled from individual set pieces so that the message they contain can be read. A new scene is released every week.

Business model

Agent Alice includes in-app purchases, e.g. B. for the game release of a new scene that has not yet been officially released. “The hidden object game is based on the freemium concept and integrates three virtual currencies at the same time,” writes the online magazine Appgefahren. After tracing the evidence of the murder, the user must conduct an investigation. This is paid for with virtual banknotes or stars, all other actions, such as resolving the search images, are paid for with energy. New bills are acquired through in-app purchases.

Agent Alice is considered the most successful Wooga launch to date. Within the first four days, the game already recorded more than 3 million downloads, making it second of the most downloaded apps for the iPhone and even first for the iPad. The news magazine Focus sees a high relevance of the game, especially for the target group of women over 40. "This target group has so far been underrepresented by game manufacturers."
