Agesistrata
Agesistrata ( Greek Ἀγησιστράτα ; † 241 BC ) was the mother of King Agis IV of Sparta .
Agesistrata, who, together with her mother Archidamia, was one of the richest Spartans of her time, supported her son's efforts to implement his reform work, which was intended to eliminate the social grievances prevailing at the time and restore the old Spartan social and life order. After the reform failed, Agis IV. Executed and then Agesistrata and the already very old Archidamia.
