austrian gay professionals (agpro) is the network of gay entrepreneurs, specialists and managers in Austria . agpro was founded in 1998 with headquarters in Vienna and is registered as an association with the responsible association authority.

Content and projects

The association is committed to promoting its members in professional, economic and personal terms. The association offers exchange, cooperation and support. Furthermore, the association is committed to the legal and social equality of homosexuals. The association directs the resulting demands to the politically responsible - through targeted lobbying, media work and projects. The association advocates the visualization of diverse forms of sexual orientation in our society, which is expressed in all of its activities.

The association places these concerns in the overall context of diversity management .

The association is generating positive feedback across Austria with various projects:

  • agpro research award for completed or planned academic achievements that deal with homosexuality and homosexuals in business, law and society. The prize has been awarded since 2004. The winners are selected by a scientific advisory board.
  • meritus award for companies that have anchored the dimension "homosexuality" in diversity management. The meritus award was presented for the first time in 2009.
  • Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board: Two members of agpro sit on the four-member "Advisory Board for gay and lesbian entrepreneurs in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW)".
  • Lectures, workshops, seminars and publications for business, public administration and NGOs

Memberships and cooperations

The association is a member of the Lambda Legal Committee (RKL) and the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA). In Austria agpro cooperates with Queer Business Women, with whom, among other things, the meritus company award is organized. At the European level, agpro works with various partner organizations with which it has been affiliated since 2005 in the umbrella organization European Gay and Lesbian Managers Association (EGMA eV).

The association is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact , the world's largest initiative for companies and organizations that advocate compliance with ten generally recognized principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
