Aithon
Aithon ( ancient Greek Αἴθων , the shining, the fiery one , Latinized Aethon ) is the name of several mythical figures and animals in Greek mythology:
- Aithon is said to have been called a son of Helios , who was equated with Erysichthon in antiquity ; maybe it was originally just a nickname for Helios
- Aithon (grandfather of Antikleia) , a great-grandfather of Odysseus
- Aithon was a pen name Odysseus used for himself in The Odyssey (19,183)
- Aithon is the name of several horses in ancient mythology
- Aithon is the name of a dog of Aktaion in Gaius Iulius Hyginus , see Aktaion
- Aithon (eagle) , the eagle who torments Prometheus
