Akaihane

赤 い 羽 根 共同 募 金 ( Akaihane kyōdō bokin , literally: "Charity Fund Red Feather", English Central Community Chest of Japan , short: CCCJ) is a non-profit Japanese aid organization based in Tokyo , which was founded in 1947 after major disasters to support and partially coordinate the 47 prefectures of Japan.

The organization was founded after the end of the Second World War , a time in which in Japan extreme war damage of all kinds, the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki as well as the collapse of the political structures had to be dealt with. Local administrations were set up in all prefectures and a central administration with voluntary administrative boards, which were officially recognized by a Social Welfare Services Law in 1951 . Over the following decades, the CCCJ got involved through fundraising, training and organizing disaster relief workers, public relations and social initiatives.

In 2003, Hanett ( は ね っ と , hanetto ) was set up, an internet-based control system in which interested users can check how the donations made to the CCCJ are being used.
