Activist badges of the machine rental stations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The honorary title of activist badge of the machine lending stations , MAS for short, was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a badge. After the founding of the state on October 7, 1949, it was donated at an unknown date until the end of the year. Very few, if any, people have received this badge. Its foundation statutes could not yet be determined.

Appearance and wearing style

The irregular badge has a height of 27 mm at its greatest extent and a thickness of 25 mm at its widest point and is enamelled in red. At its lower edge there is the letters MAS , above it a stylized, also enamelled tractor behind which in turn three flags can be seen, one of which is enameled in blue, one in red and one in black, red and gold. To the left of the flags were three golden ears of corn. At an unknown point in time in 1950, the badge was then changed to show the shape of a gold-plated and enameled triangle measuring 20 mm × 20 mm, but with rounded tips. The attached and co-embossed upper tape, which is enamelled blue and 5 mm high, shows the red enameled letters: MAS . Under the lettering there is a tractor in the middle and an ear of wheat on each side on a red enamelled background. The lettering: AKTIVIST , which is shown in gold, is emblazoned above the tractor shown. So far nothing has been known about how the badge was worn. Usually, however, it should have been worn on the upper left side of the chest.
