Acoustic radiation resistance

The acoustic radiation resistance describes the ratio of force (or pressure) and fast particles on an imaginary or actual existing surface. The term is essential for the determination of the energy flow and thus also the efficiency of acoustic radiation processes.

Examples

The radiation resistance at a horn mouth can be calculated, as can its transformation towards the horn neck. This is essential for the horn calculation. The radiating surface is only intended, there is no membrane on the horn mouth .

A conphas vibrating membrane in an infinite baffle is loaded by the radiation resistance. This is the calculation basis for every dynamic loudspeaker .
