Acoustic tracking
Acoustic tracking (also: ultrasonic tracking) is a method for locating an object and is used, for example, in medical technology for applications of virtual reality . A transmitter emits an ultrasonic signal, which is registered by several (at least three) receivers positioned at different locations. The position and, if necessary, the orientation of the transmitter can be determined from the different transit times of the signal via triangulation . For example, it is possible to detect and correct the position of a radiation source or surgical instruments in the body.
