The Arabic-language magazine al-Maʿrifa ( Arabic المعرفة 'The knowledge, the knowledge') appeared in Egypt between 1931 and 1934 . The editor was ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Islāmbūlī, who published three volumes with a total of 30 issues. The preface shows that this monthly magazine has a Sufi influence and aims to provide readers with scientific and cultural information. The articles not only deal with art, culture and literature, but above all also publish and discuss scientific findings. According to the editor al-Islāmbūlī, Sufi teachings and wisdom are not in the foreground, but should be taken into account.
