Mundir III.

Mundir III. ibn Ma'as-Sama '( Arabic منذر بن ماء السماء, DMG Munḏir b. Māʾ as-samāʾ ; † 554 ) was king of the Lachmids in northern Arabia from 505 to 554.

Under him a new rise of the laughtermid empire began in northern Arabia. At first, however, there was a serious crisis when the Kinda from central Arabia conquered the Hira residence . However, they could soon be driven out again. A campaign by the Lachmids in Byzantine Syria as far as Antioch was stopped by the Ghassanids .

This led to ongoing battles with these Byzantine vassals. After Mundir III. captured and sacrificed a son of the Ghassanid king Arethas , he was defeated and killed by him in a battle in 554. Successor to Mundir III. became Amr ibn Hind (r. 554-569).
