Mary Alaba Mboge

Mary Alaba Mboge ( Mariam or Mariama Alaba Thomas Mboge ; often: Mary Mboge or Alaba Mboge ) is a Gambian politician.

Life

Mboge was nominated in 1992 by President Dawda Jawara to the Gambian parliament . She belonged to the parliament as one of 14 appointed members until 1994, when this was dissolved after a coup by Yahya Jammeh . In 1992 she was also Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Omar A. Sey .

Mboge is the mother of Francis DeGaulle Njie (1970-2005), who died of a brain tumor. In 2006, in his memory, she founded the Francis DeGaulle Njie Foundation, a charity dedicated to educating young people in science and educating them about cancer.
