The Alabama State Route 116 (abbreviated AL 116 ) is a state highway in the US state of Alabama , which runs east-west direction.

The State Route begins on Alabama State Route 17 north of Emelle and ends at Gainesville on Alabama State Route 39 .

history

Between 1947 and 1955, the AL 116 initially ran between Cottondale and Bucksville in Tuscaloosa County . This route was downgraded to County Route 28 in 1955. Eight years later, number 116 was reassigned in 1963, replacing County Route 26. There have been no changes in the route since then.
