Alan Gelfand

Alan "Ollie" Gelfand (born 1963 in New York City , USA ) is a skateboarder . In 1976 he invented the frontside ollie in the halfpipe, one of the elementary skateboarding tricks. The trick was named after Gelfand's nickname.

Gelfand won the South Florida Skateboarding Championship in 1976. In 1981 he suffered a knee injury that caused him to temporarily retire from skateboarding. In the 1980s he took part in a few car races of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) , which he won several times. He later returned to skateboarding; in 1987 he won the WKA Grand National Championship competition .
