Alan O'Brien (born February 20, 1985 in Dublin , Ireland ) is an Irish football player. O'Brien is left footed and mostly plays in left midfield.
Career
At the age of 16, O'Brien joined the Newcastle United U-17 team , which won the U-17 championship against Manchester United . In 2005 it was awarded to Carlisle United . On his debut, he scored a goal after ten minutes on the pitch. O'Brien was only used five times due to an injury. On January 20, 2007, he made his Premier League debut against West Ham United . O'Brien was never able to prevail in the first team from Newcastle and so moved to the Scottish league at Hibernian Edinburgh in the same year .
The Irishman played his first international match when the Irish played against the Netherlands .
