An alarm device is an additional device for a radio system that outputs coded signals in the form of five-tone sequences or digital data telegrams ( DAG , digital alarm device) that are sent by radio. This five-tone sequence or the data telegram activates the operational radio message receiver , for example from fire brigade members or disaster protection forces. If certain double tones are broadcast in addition to the five-tone sequence, the siren can be switched on at the scene , e.g. B. for fire alarm.

Such alarm devices exist as separate individual devices or as programs for use on PCs . As an independent alarm device, an alarm transmitter can replace the control center computer in smaller siren systems . In systems with a control center computer, the alerting unit serves as an additional alerting point or as a fall-back level if the control center computer fails. B. when maintenance work is carried out on the computer. As a result, emergency services can be alerted despite maintenance work on the computer.
