The altar with the dedicatory inscription
Albius Severus (his prenomen is not known) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 3rd century AD .
A dedicatory inscription found at Camboglanna fort and dated 201/300 shows that Severus was prefect of the Cohors II Tungrorum milliaria equitata cl , which was stationed in the province of Britannia .
