Alcons (English-language acronym for A rticulation L oss of Cons onants ) denotes the loss of articulation for consonants .
As a measure of the (in) comprehensibility are the Alcon again how high the percentage share of not is correctly understood words or consonants:

Different factors are included in the calculation of the Alcon:
- the reverberation time
- the distance between the sound source and the sound receiver
- the volume of the room
- the degree of concentration of the sound source
- the reverb radius .
The reverberation and the directional characteristics of the sound sources are taken into account, but not the background noise (the background noise ).
