Alda Sousa

Alda Sousa (born August 4, 1953 in Porto ) is a Portuguese politician of the Bloco de Esquerda party .

After graduating from applied mathematics, Sousa did a PhD in biomedicine, where she specialized in genetics. In 2003 she was qualified to teach population biology. During her studies she already worked as an assistant at the Abel Salazar Institute for Biomedicine at the University of Porto , later as an assistant and associate professor. In 1999 she moved to the state board of the Bloco de Esquerda. In 2004 she was a deputy member of the Portuguese Parliament for a few months . On May 9, 2012, she moved to the European Parliament for the late Miguel Portas .
