Alexander Arnoldowitsch Schitomirski

Alexander Arnoldowitsch Schitomirski ( Russian Александр Арнольдович Житомирский ; * 1907 in Rostov-on-Don , † 1993 in Moscow ) was a Soviet graphic artist.

Zhitomirsky became known for his anti-fascist photo montages on leaflets during the Second World War . Later, his works were often directed against US imperialism in the Cold War .

The Art Institute of Chicago showed the exhibition "Humanism + Dynamite = The Soviet Photomontages of Aleksandr Zhitomirsky" until January 2017.
