Alexander Wladimirowitsch Panow ( Russian Алекса́ндр Влади́мирович Пано́в ; born September 21, 1975 in Kolpino , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian football player .

Career

The 1.65 meter tall striker began his career in 1994 at Zenit Saint Petersburg . He was lighter in weight than the other players and was a quick striker. Because of his speed he got the nickname "Kolpino rocket". After a year in the second division of the club, he rose to the first division. In 1995 he signed a contract with Dynamo Wologda and moved a year later to Shanghai Baosteel . After two years returned to the club Zenit Saint Petersburg and was under contract for four years. In 2000 he signed a contract with AS Saint-Étienne , but after a short time he was seriously injured and had to end the season prematurely. From 2001 until the end of his career in 2010 he was under contract with various clubs.

For the national team of Russia he scored four goals in 17 international matches.
