Alignment (geodesy)

As alignment or Alignement in which is Geodesy the Einfluchtung of a point in a two measuring points defined precisely designated. In contrast to the alignment , the point to be staked is not between the given points, but outside of them, in the extension of the straight line.

The straight line extension method is often used for property boundaries or small-scale surveys when no great effort is required. Bringing freiäugig the two remote measurement points in coverage and marks there the ground point to a flight bar . With a little experience, an accuracy in the mm range is possible.

Sometimes higher accuracy is required, for example when setting up precise axes in mechanical engineering . Then a theodolite is used instead of the free eye , which is moved on the tripod plate until the two target points coincide. The bottom point is then best marked with the optical plummet , which is possible to 0.1 mm.
