Allocation (life cycle assessment)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When creating life cycle assessments , allocation stands for the allocation of emissions and energy contributions to the “actual source”. As a result, only a small proportion of a recycled product is included in the ecological balance, since the emissions and energy contributions can be charged to the original product.

According to the definition according to DIN standard 14040, an allocation in the context of a life cycle assessment is an “assignment of the input or output flows of a process or a product system to the product system examined and to one or more other product systems”.
