Alnsjøen is a lake in Lillomarka , north of Oslo ( Norway ). It is 237 meters above sea level and has an area of 0.39 km². Alnsjøen is drained by the Alnaelva river , which flows into the Oslofjord . In the 18th century copper ore was mined in the surrounding area.
Today the lake is a water reservoir of Oslo. It is fenced in to protect the drinking water from contamination. In winter, when the lake is frozen over, the gates are opened in some places. Then there are ski trails on the surface to switch from one bank to the other.
