Alpine bells are a percussion instrument in Alpine folk music .

Alpine bells consist of a set of tuned cow bells . They are usually played by a person who picks up the bells and shakes them. They can also be shared among a group of people so that they can play together. The interaction requires a high degree of mutual empathy, as each player should only ring his bell when the pitch that corresponds to his bell is sung in a song.
