Alpine Prize
CIPRA Germany awards the German Alpine Prize at irregular intervals to outstanding politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, association representatives or individuals for their committed work for the sustainable development of the Alpine region .
Award winners
- 2006 - Klaus Töpfer (for his commitment to the Alpine Convention )
- 2008 - Helmut Karl (for his services to nature conservation and as the initiator of the Bavarian Alpine Plan )
- 2011 - Wolfgang E. Burhenne (for his life's work - including participation in the Washington Convention on Species Conservation (CITES) and the Convention for Biological Diversity (Rio de Janeiro 1992). Burhenne was a founding member of the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps (CIPRA) in 1952 )
- 2015 - Werner Bätzing (for his life's work - numerous research papers and publications on the Alps, including "The Alps - History and Future of a European Cultural Landscape.")
- 2017 - Sylvia Hamberger and Wolfgang Zängl (for their 40 years of educational work on environmental issues with the Society for Ecological Research )
- 2019 - Georg Meister (for his special services to the mountain forest, alpine tourism and as one of the "founding fathers" of the Berchtesgaden National Park)
