A Alsbachit is a porphyric gangue , the conspicuous in a fine-grained quartz Feldpat mica matrix phenocrysts of quartz, feldspar and may include garnet. The name is a local term. It was defined by Chelius (1892) and is derived from the place Alsbach in the Odenwald.

The term is out of date, today Alsbachites would be referred to as granodiorite porphyries or granodiorite porphyrites.
