Old pharmacy

The Alte Apotheke is a historic building at Karlstrasse 15 in Friedrichshafen .

history

The classical plastered building with a symmetrical facade was built by Wilhelm Weismann in the Neustadt Friedrichshafen, which was started in 1812. Weismann had taken over the pharmacy license of the abandoned Löwental Monastery . In 1834 the late Jakob Bayer's license was added; from this point on until 1922 the old pharmacy was the only pharmacy in Friedrichshafen. The building, which was only slightly damaged in World War II , was used as a pharmacy until 1992. It is the last building in Friedrichshafen Neustadt that has been preserved in its original form.

Since 2002, the listed building has housed the Friedrichshafen studio of Südwestrundfunk . The building, which is owned by the city, was converted for this purpose for 2.2 million DM.

As part of the Friedrichshafen History Trail, the building has an information board that provides information about the history of the old pharmacy and the Barbara Mügel Foundation. The Mügel couple had owned the pharmacy for over 50 years.

Individual evidence

  1. So the writing on the information board of the history trail in Friedrichshafen; In the Festschrift published by Ernst Ziegler for Ulrich Leiner pharmacies and pharmacists in the Lake Constance area , Thorbecke 1988, ISBN 978-3799550338 , the name is written on p. 70 “Weißmann”.
