Old Town Hall (Völklingen)
The old town hall was the town hall of Völklingen until 1970 and is now the seat of the town library and the adult education center.
The town hall was completed in 1875 after two years of construction. Richard Schmidt ( Luisenthal ) and Melchior Schneider (Völklingen) acted as architects . From 1905 to 1907 a renovation was carried out under the municipal master builder Hermann Eichner. Here the characteristic tower was built. In November 1970 the new town hall on Rathausplatz was occupied. In 1972 the old town hall was placed under monument protection and restored from 1974 to 1976. Since that time the adult education center, the city library and cultural rooms have been located in the old town hall.
