Life

“Very little biographical information on Altobello Meloni is known; neither the date of his birth nor the date of his death are known and the reconstruction of his oeuvre is correspondingly problematic. ”It is assumed that Altobello Melon was born between 1490 and 1491 in Cremona. According to Marcantonio Michiels , Altobello was a student of Girolamo Romanino . In December 1516 he was commissioned to decorate the coffin wall of the Cathedral of Cremona with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Jesusshould show. Altobello completed the work on the wall paintings by 1518; Due to their signature "ALTOBELLUS DE MELONIBUS", they are the only works that have been saved for Altobello. Melon died before May 3, 1543.
