Amīn (title)

Amīn , an honorary title, office and part of a name, from Arabic, trustworthy; a person in whom one can trust , epithet of the prophet Mohammed , later official title, e.g. B. in India (urdu امین amīn ).

In the Muslim world, the title designates officials from Africa to Asia with legal, economic or financial trust functions, e.g. B. Trustees of the courts, arbitrators, guardians or tax assessors, in the Muslim West later also the heads of trade guilds .
