Amadeus I (Savoy)

Amadeus I of Savoy (called: the tail ; * around 1030 ; † 1051 ) was Count of Savoy from 1048 to 1051 .

He was the eldest son of Count Humbert I and the Anzilla von Lenzburg. He married Adelheid (also Adila or Adelegida).

He was nicknamed Tail because he appeared with a large entourage.

He had three children

  • Humbert († before 1051)
  • Aymon († 1060), Bishop of Belley
  • Thiberge ⚭ 1) around 1053 Ludwig I († 1060) Lord of Faucigny, ⚭ 2) Gérold II. († 1080), Count of Geneva.

His eldest son and heir had already died when he died, so his youngest brother Otto succeeded him as Count of Savoy.
