Ambano is a city and a municipality in Madagascar . It belongs to the Antsirabe II district, which is part of the Vakinankaratra region in the Antananarivo province . The population of the municipality was estimated at 32,000 in 2001.

Primary and secondary education are offered in the city. The majority (95%) of the local population works in agriculture, while another 5% make a living from raising livestock. The main agricultural crops consist of vegetables and fruits, especially citrus fruits, and potatoes.
