Speil von Ostheim (also Spyl , Spiel , Latinized Spilonis ) is a noble family from the Silesian principality of Neisse .
history
Although the lineage is given as Johann Speil , formerly Erbrichter zu Heinzendorf bei Olbersdorf, beginning in 1741, the actual ancestor of the family , Albert Speil , can be found in the Codex diplomaticus Silesiae as early as 1307 , who in that year gave two bushels to the Schweidnitz Dominican monastery with the consent of his heirs Granted constant interest to Korn. Elger Speil is documented as Burgrave of Ottmachau in 1352 . This owned the allodial goods Schwandorf (10 km south of Ottmachau) and Koschberdorf (15 km northwest of Ottmachau) . In 1369, Peczco von Spiel (Speil) gave his allod and the interest in "Swanowitz" as a dowry to his wife Katharina. A Gabriel Spiel is recorded as Procurator of Neisse for the years 1434/35 .

Nobility uprisings
Bohemian knighthood with the title "Ostheim" on 12 October 1793 in Vienna of Johann's grandson John Albert Speil , secretary of the Moravian-Silesian State Farms -Administration, with Bohemian Inkolat in knighthood on 26 October 1793 in Vienna. He had after his juridical studies as Konzipist in the Moravian-Silesian State Farms administration, in adopting the Olomouc Archbishop fiefdoms and of properties located in Austria Breslauer diocese goods rendered outstanding services to the state administration. He was also the Princely Liechtenstein Court Counselor, General-Country Appointee of the Austrian portion of the Duchy of Silesia since 1742 and the owner of the palace at Weißöhlhütten in Moravia . In 1800 he was appointed general state officer in Opava .
His daughter Maria was married to the cellist Friedrich Wranitzky (a son of Anton Wranitzky ), his daughter Anna to the composer Conradin Kreutzer .
When he died on September 14, 1837, he had five daughters and four sons, whose offspring are still in flower.

According to the Codex diplomaticus Silesiae , a thick, round seal with a surface of red wax and the inscription: "S. Spyl" hangs on a deed of donation from Albert Spyl ( Speil ) . Alberti Spilonis ” . Apart from the writing, only the triangular coat of arms and the helmet, which was used by the oldest nobility in the 12th and 13th centuries, are recognizable.
