Amburbium
The amburbium ( Latin amb- : "around, around"; urbs : "city"; note the connection with urvare ; "plow", explained by Sulcus primigenius ) is an old festival of the Roman religion , namely a meeting around the city of Rome with the introduction of sacrificial animals, probably Suovetaurilia , which took place in early February and was supposed to atone for the city. Originally it was feriae conceptivae . In later times they mingled with the lustratio urbis celebrated according to the Greek rite .
A rite for fields that was comparable in some respects was the Ambarvalia .
