The American Arbitration Association ( AAA ) is a non-commercial arbitration institution and, as such, assists parties in arbitration proceedings . The AAA also offers mediation through the Mediation.org website and other forms of alternative dispute resolution . It is based in New York City .

For international proceedings, the AAA founded the International Center for Dispute Resolution ( ICDR ) in 1996 . The ICDR has offices in New York, Dublin , Mexico City , Bahrain and Singapore .

history

The AAA emerged from the merger of the Arbitration Society of America and the Arbitration Foundation in 1926. In the same year the Federal Arbitration Act was passed.

Services

As an arbitration institution, the AAA offers sets of rules for certain types of arbitration, e.g. B. for consumer arbitration, labor arbitration and international commercial arbitration. She also supports the parties to disputes in the appointment of arbitrators and mediators.
