American Jurisprudence (cited as Am. Jur. 2d ) is a 140-volume encyclopedia and secondary source of United States law . It is published by West-Verlag and has been in its second edition since 1962. It is available online through Westlaw and LexisNexis .

American Jurisprudence is e.g. B. cited as follows (example): 22A AM. JUR. 2D Dead Bodies § 12 (2007).

22A means the corresponding (historical) volume number of the reference work, AM. JUR. 2D stands for American Jurisprudence Second Edition, Dead Bodies (in italics) gives the title of the corresponding volume, paragraph mark and number ( 12 ); Date of main publication ( 2007 ) and paperback edition, if a citation can only be found in this one.

Under certain circumstances, a special page reference may also be required, which must be cited.
