Office for Youth Issues

The Office for Youth Issues at the Council of Ministers was from 1962 an organ of the Council of Ministers of the GDR , directly subordinate to the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers appointed by it. It was subordinate to the Council of Ministers and temporarily (1958–1962) to the Ministry of National Education directly.

In connection with the Central Council of the FDJ and "on the basis of the decisions of the SED ", the Office for Youth Issues was responsible for all youth work, youth research, in charge of the youth offense and had a significant say in youth legislation. Chairman was u. a. Hans Jagenow .

In November 1989 the Office for Youth Issues and the State Secretariat for Physical Culture and Sport were dissolved. As a joint legal successor from January to March 1990 an office for youth and sport, from March to October 1990 a ministry for youth and sport was formed.
