Anand Pillay (policeman)

Anand Pillay is a South African brigadier general with the South African Police Service (SAPS). Since May 2014 he has been in office as Police Commissioner (comparable to a police chief ), the highest head of the police component of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

In his current office he succeeded Ben Oyo Nyeko , who temporarily held the office from 2012 to 2014 after the resignation of Zimbabwean Charles Makono .

Pillay was previously Police Commissioner for the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS). He then became the commander of the Milnerton Group in the Western Cape Province . He is an alumnus of the University of South Africa .
