Anastasios Sinaites

Anastasios Sinaites , also Anastasius Sinaita (* approx. 630; † after 700), was a monk and church writer.

Anastasios, born in Amathos (Cyprus), was presbyter and monk in St. Catherine's Monastery (Sinai) , of which he ran the hospital. In addition, he developed an extensive literary activity, in which he mainly devoted himself to the defense of the Chalcedonian orthodoxy and pastoral problems. Many of his sermons, writings, and speeches have survived and have been republished in recent years.

He is venerated as a saint . His feast day is April 21st .

The two eponymous bishops of Antioch on the Orontes , Anastasios (559-599) and his successor Anastasios (599-610), are sometimes referred to by the name Anastasios Sinaites.
