Anaxo (Troizen)
Anaxo ( Greek Ἀναξώ ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
She is a woman from Troizen who was kidnapped and raped by Theseus . Plutarch reports on this in his biography of Theseus. In the subsequent comparison of the lives of Theseus and Romulus , Plutarch sharply condemns this behavior. Although Romulus had also kidnapped numerous women, not like Theseus for baser motives, but to secure peace in the region. Theseus' behavior is not to be excused.
