Anchios
Anchios ( ancient Greek Ἄγχιος ) is a centaur of Greek mythology .
He appears in the library of Apollodorus as part of the fourth task of Heracles , in which he has to catch the Erymanthian boar . The reading of the name is uncertain, but is usually added as anchios .
During his search for the boar, Heracles is hospitably received and entertained by the centaur Pholos . When Herakles opens a wine barrel of the Centaurs, despite the reservations of his host, the Centaurs are attracted by the smell and armed siege the cave of Pholos. The first centaurs to penetrate the cave are Anchios and Agrios , whom he drives away with a torch. He fights the others with his bow.
