Andrea Cianchi (born February 16, 1963 in Florence ) is an Italian mathematician who deals with partial differential equations, especially from a geometrical perspective.

Cianchi received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Florence in 1993 , from which he also received his Laureate Degree in 1986. In 1990 he became an assistant professor at the University of Florence, where he received a full professorship in 2000. From 2005 to 2008 he headed the Faculty of Mathematics and its Applications in Architecture.

In 2005, together with Miroslav Chlebik and Nicola Fusco, he characterized sets in geometric dimension theory, the diameter of which (in the sense of Renato Caccioppoli and Ennio de Giorgi ) is invariant to Steiner's symmetrization.

In 2008 he was a senior scientist in the national Italian research project Geometric aspects of partial differential equations and related topics . In 2014 he received the Premio Gaetano Fichera from the Unione Matematica Italiana .
