Andrew Smith Hallidie
Andrew Smith Hallidie (March 16, 1836 - April 24, 1900 ) was the sponsor of the Clay Street Hill Railroad in San Francisco , USA. It was the world's first functional cable car system, which is why Hallidie is considered the inventor of the cable tram and the father of today's San Francisco cable cars . He introduced wire rope production in California and also built bridges here.
