Andrzej Bartke

Andrzej Bartke is a Polish-American biologist and professor emeritus of geriatrics at Southern Illinois University .

Bartke graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in 1962 . He then went to the United States, where he did his PhD at the University of Kansas in 1965 . He spent his postdoc at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology .

Andrzej Bartke researches the mechanisms of longevity using mice. He was able to show that the Ames Dwarf mice live particularly long due to a lack of growth hormone .
