Anglo-Transjordan Treaty

The Anglo-Transjordan Treaty ( English: Anglo-Transjordanian Treaty or Treaty of London ) was an international treaty between Transjordan and the United Kingdom .

It was concluded on March 22, 1946 in London between Abdallah ibn Husain I and the British government under the auspices of Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin . The treaty formally granted full sovereignty to Transjordan as an independent state, but also allowed Great Britain to station troops on Transjordan territory. In response to the treaty, the Soviet Union blocked the country's admission to the United Nations .
