mark

System marks are used by the printer in sheet-fed offset printing in the form of markings that are also printed, which enable him to visually check the uniform system of the printing material in the printing machine . The side mark can also mark this at least logically by positioning it closer to the front system. In addition, the front system can be marked by manually marking the delivery with a felt pen. Knowing the system is important because the sheets are usually not exactly the same size. When aligning and pushing the print sheets on the opposite side, the print motif would dance during further processing , that is, it would not be in exactly the same place on each sheet. If several sheets have been printed and if a visual check of the delivery pile reveals that the markings are dancing , the system must be checked and adjusted immediately, as the sheets do not hit correctly and printing was not done correctly. The bookbinder also receives a visual indication of the angle of the printed sheet when cutting or folding in order to produce a correctly positioned end product.

attack

The stops of a sheet-fed printing press that are present in the system, the first printing unit in multi-color printing machines, are also designated as system marks. A distinction is made between front and side marks . The front lay ensures that the incoming printed sheet is precisely aligned in the printing direction. The target of the side mark is the lateral alignment of the individual sheet.
