With enrichment Regulation is Regulation (EC) no. 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods referred.

There is a wide range of nutrients and other ingredients that can be added to foods in their manufacture, including vitamins, minerals including trace elements , amino acids , essential fatty acids , fiber , various plants and herbal extracts.

Their addition to food was previously regulated in the Member States of the European Union by different national regulations that hindered the free movement of these products, created unequal conditions of competition and thus had a direct impact on the functioning of the internal market.

The European legislator has therefore found it necessary to issue this ordinance to harmonize the national provisions on the addition of vitamins and minerals as well as certain other substances to food.

The Enrichment Ordinance, like the Health Claims Ordinance, has been in effect since July 1, 2007. Both ordinances refer to each other, which leads to entanglements in the legal provisions.
